“Discovering Strings and Orchestra” Outreach

The ASTA National Office has recently launched a community outreach program to partner youth groups with volunteer string clinicians in a five-session workshop that brings string music to students at an early age. “Discovering Strings and Orchestra” is a nationwide effort to introduce strings to students in grades one through three while focusing on the joy and benefits of playing strings. We are looking for volunteer clinicians, performers, and youth groups to participate in the program.

If you are interested in this project, please visit ASTA’s Discovering Strings and Orchestra to find out how you can get involved. Your participation will make a difference!

Project Consultant needed for ASTA outreach initiative

ASTA was recently awarded a grant from NAMM to launch an outreach initiative that pairs volunteer string clinicians with community youth troops for a five-session workshop. We are looking for a Project Consultant to spearhead this program for the next year (through June 30, 2008). ASTA has announced this position on our national website but we are asking that each state publicize this opportunity to their members as well. This is a part-time, telecommuting position that will be paid a stipend of $8,000.

The link to the project description can be found on the ASTA website. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in this position, please fill out the application and submit as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is July 13 but the position will remain open until filled by a qualified candidate.

Please feel free to contact Elizabeth Bookwalter with any questions.
