Nonprofit agencies facing cuts

In her preliminary 2011 budget, Iorio recommends cutting 10 percent from nonprofit groups that use city-owned buildings, such as Lowry Park Zoo, The Florida Aquarium, the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa Theatre and H.B. Plant Museum.

She also recommends cutting 20 percent from other nonprofit groups, including The Florida Orchestra and the Museum of Science & Industry.

Mont Blanc orchestra to play at Summerfest

Now in its 19th year, “Summerfest” teams a European orchestra with members of the Broward County-based Symphony of the Americas for performances in Florida and in Central and South America. The Mont Blanc orchestra includes professional musicians from France, Italy and Switzerland. Its repertoire ranges from the Baroque era to the 20th century.

Concert to Benefit Baby With Heart Defect

The concert will feature [Orlando Philharmonic Violinist Jennifer] Mueller and Ayako Yonetani, who is a professor of violin and viola at the University of Central Florida, performing as a duo. Yonetani has performed worldwide and is an official artist in the Florida Arts & Culture State Touring Program and a member of Japan's premier chamber ensemble, Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo.
