The Chamber Music Legacy of Ernst von Dohnányi
Dohnányi’s enduring chamber music works are as exciting to play as to hear. James Grymes, the world’s foremost authority on Dohnányi, will give an evocative talk on Dohnányi and his chamber works. Published by Indiana University Press, Grymes has written three books on Dohnányi with a fourth in progress. He is the founder and consultant to the Ernst von Dohnányi Collection at FloridaStateUniversity which houses Dohnányi’s lifelong assortment of manuscripts and letters. Dohnányi spent his last years as a professor at Florida State University while living in Tallahassee with his family. After the lecture, John Gilbert, Pamela Ryan, and Alex Ezerman will perform the stunning Serenade in C for Violin, Viola, and Cello, Op. 10.
